Boğaziçi University hosted a stakeholders meeting that brought together representatives from the Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV - Türkiye Eğitim Gönüllüleri Vakfı), the Community Volunteers Foundation (Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfı (TOG)), the Institute Istanbul ISMEK (Enstitü İstanbul İSMEK), the Press Council of Turkey, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN), and the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education.

The project coordinator, Dr. Tamer ATABARUT, along with researchers Prof. Dr. Sevil Akaygun, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Kızıltepe (PhD), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kesim Güven and Atilla Baslar communicated DeCiTeL’s objectives, the work carried out in Türkiye, and the activities planned for the future. Stakeholders exchanged views and made recommendations on how to strengthen democratic citizenship education, support teacher education policies, enhance civil society–public–university collaborations, and structure local learning ecosystems.

Welcoming local stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise, the meeting reinforced DeCiTeL’s participatory and multi-stakeholder approach, while also providing an open platform for developing joint initiatives in teacher education, specifically in global citizenship, European citizenship, human rights, peace education, and digital citizenship.
